**Christmas 2008**

We had such a fun Christmas, the only complaint is that it went by way too fast! On Christmas Eve we first went to The Hogan's for dinner, opening PJ's, Secret Santa gifts and watching the cartoon Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Then we went to my Aunt Polly's Annual Christmas Eve party for homemade chicken noodle soup, pretzel jello and the Name Game.

We slept at our house and woke up early on Christmas morning to open presents and to a huge snow storm! Then we went over the my parents to open presents and have breakfast. Thanks for everything mom and dad, you spoiled us WAY too much!!

Mom, Meg, Katie and me in our cute Christmas PJ's (please ignore my just-woke-up-face in all of these pictures!)
Dad and all his girls
The traditional picture--we line up every year from youngest to oldest to walk into the living room to open presents

After finishing up at my parents we went over to my grandma's for the annual Rawlings family brunch. I look forward to this every year, the food is amazing and its so fun because almost the entire family is there.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
After brunch we went to The Hogan's for presents, more yummy food, games and visiting Al's grandparents.

The real adventure started when Al and I got home at about 10:30 that night. We pulled into the garage, got out of our car and tried to walk inside but the door was locked! Al went around the house trying break in but he had no luck. Oh and don't forget that it was a snow storm outside! Snow + Locked Out=Awesome--NOT. And yes, no one we know had a key and we didn't hide a spare anywhere, who needs a key when we have a garage code?!

So we decided that we might as well call a locksmith since we'd have to in the morning anyways. So we google texted "24 hour locksmith, South Jordan UT" and got a few different numbers to call. We called the first number in West Jordan and they say they'll be here in 20-30 mins. Well 30 minutes go by and no one had come. We call again, (we have to call a "call center" who then calls the technician who then calls us, very annoying) and the technician calls back saying that he's at 7200 S and I-15 so it'll be another half hour (oh and he barely speaks English and he doesn't speak Spanish either).

So another 30 minutes go by and he's still not here. So we go through the marathon again of getting a hold of the guy and he says he's at 98th and Bangerter, so like 10 minutes away if that. Another 20 minutes go by and he's still not here. In the mean time we are driving around the neighborhood in circles to keep warm and we were not in good moods! This could have been pretty funny and I even thought about taking pictures and making it a funny experience but those of you who know Al know that he does not like situations like this and he does not handle them very well!

So at 12:30am, after waiting for them for 2 HOURS Al just decides to cancel it. Oh also, they were going to charge a $50 fee + a service charge for the work the technician does which is usually another $100. After we canceled it we tried calling 5 more numbers that came up in the text and THEY ALL WENT TO THE SAME CALL CENTER! Again, awesome. What the crap? We were so bugged. Luckily my best friend lives one street over (who I had tried calling throughout all of this but she didn't answer) so we called and called and called and called and called until they finally answered and we went and slept over there! Thanks Meg and Nate, I don't know what we'd do without you living so close! So Al called a different company the next morning who was here 20 mins later and only charged $60 flat.

So there you go, our Christmas was perfect until that-but at least we have a funny story to look back on. Moral of the story...give a key to all family members and friends.

I hope you all had a great Christmas!

oh christmas tree

Over Thankgiving weekend we went to a tree lot with The Whitney's to pick out our tree. I love real trees more than anything--I grew up going to a lot with my family to pick out our tree so Al and I have continued the tradition in our family! I especially cant get enough of the smell of a real tree.
We went to Glover's Nursery, its where we went last year and we love their trees. But it was FREEZING!

The finished product! Al's mom collected ornaments for all of her kids since they were little and she gave them to us for our first Christmas as a married couple. Last year my mom also gave me a bunch of ornaments that I wanted from Pottery Barn. So its a little random but all of the decorations mean a lot to us.

Congrats Bud and Eliza!!

I have to give a shout out to my big brother Buddy and his new fiance' Eliza! They got engaged on Saturday and I couldn't be more excited! I just LOVE Eliza and am SO excited to have her as a sister. Buddy totally surprised the whole fam and didnt tell any of us he was doing it!

They went to dinner at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and then went on a walk around Memory Grove (where they used to go all of the time when Eliza lived right by it). Bud had his friend decorate the bridge with flowers and stuff and then he did it!

I love you guys and I am so excited to welcome Eliza to the fam! CONGRATULATIONS!

Bud got this crystal flower on his mission in the Czech Republic and that's where he put the ring.

Last days at Farmers :(

A few weeks ago I had to quit my job to move on to bigger and better things. Ive only worked there since February but I really have made life-long friends that I'm going to miss so much. The last few days before I left I didn't have a ton of work to do because I had turned it all over to other people, but luckily my friend Rob got a new Mac with an awesome camera to keep me entertained!

Meg I already miss you SO much!! We had way too much fun at work, and running down Redwood after work trying not to get attacked by freaks. I miss venting to you about life {and work} and instant messaging you all day every day. Luckily we have text and email! Rob I miss you too if your reading this, but I miss Buddy Daniels more.

My new job is good, far from home and not as flexible, and I don't like the people as much but hopefully it'll get better. I just hate starting a new job and learning all new stuff. I am SO overwhelmed right now and I will probably cry everyday next week when the girl who is training me leaves and I'm all alone! But its a good job and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Wish me luck!

Thanksgiving

I'm a little late on a Thanksgiving post but we had such a fun day. Holiday's are sometimes hard with two families but Thanksgiving always works out perfect for us. We first went with my family and ate at Tuscany at 12:30, yum...then we went over to Al's parents for dinner and games at 6:00. Two Thanksgiving dinners in one day was great but I was stuffed! This weekend was so nice getting things done, sleeping in, going to the Jazz game and decorating for Christmas!

My friend Meghan tagged me a few days ago about things that I am thankful for so here it goes...

  • My amazing family and for having such in-laws. They all show their love and support constantly and I could never thank them enough for all that they do.
  • For having the most amazing friends, I wouldn't be who I am today without them.
  • For having a roof over my head, food to eat, cars to drive.
  • That we both have good jobs that we like.
  • Our neighborhood. I LOVE where we live and am so grateful for all of the friends Ive met out here! I know we're meant to live here and I know that we've met lifelong friends.
  • For our ward and church callings. We have met such great people in our ward who have helped us feel so welcome and we have the best callings. I love my Young Women and will die when I get released!
  • I am grateful for the gospel and for what an amazing blessing it has been in my life.
  • For our healthy bodies.
  • And especially for my Al! He is the best husband who puts up with me and will do anything to make me happy. I'd be lost without him!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

This year, Brighton High is raising money for The Christmas Box House. One way they are doing this is by having a boutique with local vendors. SO...for those of you who have a side business selling stuff, or KNOW someone who does, LISTEN UP!!

It is going to be on Wednesday, December 10th at BHS from 5-7pm. Each vendor will be charged $25 to have a booth, (all of which goes to the Christmas Box House), and then you get to keep any money you make from your sales. So it is for a good cause and you'll make money while doing it!

For those of you who dont have anything to sell...JUST COME!! They already have a number of awesome venders lined up! So come support The Christmas Box House, BHS and my darling little sister who is the Senior Class Pres.

Comment or email me with any questions and I'll get you all of the details sjhogan8@gmail.com

annual halloween parties

Last Saturday, October 25th, we went to two of our annual Halloween parties...one with Alan's family and another with my friends, both were so fun. I seriously cant believe I'm posting these pictures because we looked SO gross, well I did at least (brown long hair with bangs is not a good look on me!)--but it's the memories that count I guess!

First we went to the family party at Al's aunt's house and it was a lot of fun with some awesome costumes. I really wish I would have taken more pictures because there were some way good costumes, but here are a few....

Al, me, Mal and Jadi aka Zack, Kelly, Jessie and AC Slater from Saved By The Bell
Al's dad was the joker--it was freaky!
Al's cute grandparents

Next we headed over to The Whitney's for Annie and Megan's party that they throw every year. We had a hypnotist come and it was hilarious! I haven't laughed that hard in the longest time (maybe it was because the guy "hypnotized" the audience to laugh a lot during the show?!), but seriously-I was dying! Some of the highlights were Brooke's belly dance, Nate's amazing dance while modeling a huge stuffed animal snake and Jeff and Dan's ballet!

Zack and Kelly
High School Friends
Daybreak Friends
The entire group
Since I don't have kids of my own I have to blog about my friends cute kids!!
Graham the Caterpillar, Tessa the Tiger and Tayci the Lady Bug

Thanks Whitney's and Crockett's! Cant wait until next year!

Happy Birthday Brookie!

Today is my big sister's birthday and I just want to tell her how much I love and look up to her! Ever since I was little I have always wanted to be exactly like her. I use to tag along with her and her friends and bawl my eyes out when she would make me leave! I would try to dress like her, do my hair and make like her and spy on her. We had the funnest childhood making music videos to "Oh, think twice, just another day with you and me in paradise" and "Straight up now tell me do you really wanna love me forever, oh oh oh!" Brooke is the nicest, hardest-working, most positive person I know--you cant not like her! I love you sis, Happy Birthday!
